es-tu minou opening night

Liz Mac unveiled her latest body of work, Es-Tu Minou?, at the Dart Gallery on Thursday, June 15th. The show, which incorporates nearly 40 acrylic and gouache paintings of various sizes, touches on themes of vulnerability, identity, anger, and friendship. The show will be on display at the gallery, located at 127 Portland Street in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, until July 9th.

Es-Tu Minou is about the assumptions we make about beautiful, whimsical, sweet, or stereotypically “feminine” things. On its surface I wanted to create something dazzling, but, if examined just a little bit more closely, might actually tell much deeper stories. But sometimes I am just trying to make you laugh to distract from how much of myself I am putting on display.
